Picture-in-picture for video calls is coming to WhatsApp for iOS.

The popular messaging service WhatsApp is sending an important update to iPhone users right now. People who use WhatsApp on iOS will now be able to use the “picture-in-picture” feature while on video calls. Since the beginning, Android users have had easy access to this feature.

WhatsApp iOS is Getting picture-in-picture for Video Calls

Picture-in-picture was added to WhatsApp in December of last year, and Beta users were then able to use it. Now, iPhone users will be able to use picture-in-picture for WhatsApp video calls. With the latest update, version 23.3.77, picture-in-picture is now supported. The PiP feature in WhatsApp works the same way as it does in other apps, like Apple’s FaceTime. When you join a video call and then minimize the app, the video automatically appears in a small window that floats on top of other apps.

Not only does the update have this, but it also has some other features. The company says that iPhone users can now add captions to documents they send. WhatsApp now also lets you add long descriptions to groups and make your own avatars.

  • With iOS Picture in Picture (PiP) support, you can now do other things while on a WhatsApp call without having to pause the video call.
