Oppo already has a folding smartphone in its lineup: the Find N. This was one of the most well-known foldable phones of 2016, but you can only get it in China.
However, several media outlets have reported on a possible new Oppo folding mobile that, in addition to delivering the brand’s first folding to Europe, might also provide a significantly lower price than other folding models from other brands.
However, no official information has been confirmed. In truth, we still don’t know what the phone will be called, however, some leakers, such as Digital Chat Station, are referring to it as the Find N2 Flip, a moniker that also appears in a supposedly official leaked photograph.
When will the Oppo Find N2 Flip go on sale?
There is no indication of when Oppo’s new gadget will be available for purchase, but the company has confirmed the date for Inno Day, the annual event where we hope to see the phone. This event will be held on December 14th. It will be a virtual event beginning at 8 a.m. GMT / 3 a.m. ET / 12 a.m. PT.
Oppo introduced the original Find N at the 2021 Inno Day event, so hopefully this year it will announce the Find N2 and, of course, its sibling Flip.
One restriction is that, according to its name, Inno Day is not a single day. Last year, the Find N debuted on the second day, thus if the pattern holds, the Find N2 and N2 Flip might be announced on December 15, the day after Inno Day begins, as predicted by at least one leaker.
We don’t know if the phone will be available outside of China this time, but we’re hoping so. Billy Zhang, Oppo’s vice president of overseas sales, confirmed to Tech Advisor earlier this year that Flip and foldable phones are the future, and that Europe will “definitely” receive the next generation of foldable from Oppo.
When does the Oppo Find N2 Flip go on sale in Spain?
On the second day of the Inno Day 2022 event, held on December 15, Oppo unveiled the Find N2 Flip. The company also took use of the chance to introduce the smartphone in China, although those outside of the country would have to wait a little longer.
Oppo revealed on February 15 that the global launch would take place on March 2, 2023, the day you can officially purchase your model. The Find N2 Flip was launched in China alongside another folding model (in this case, a book type), the Find N2, however, this will not be distributed overseas. Oppo Find X6 flagships could be on the way shortly.
How much will Oppo’s foldable phone cost?
Oppo has yet to disclose any details about the price (or even the existence) of its forthcoming foldable phone, as it has with the release date.
Returning to the rumors, we’ve seen multiple reports (perhaps all spawned by the initial Digital Chat Station post) claiming that the new device will cost around $1,000. This would put it on par with other contemporary foldable phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, Motorola Razr 2022, and Huawei P50 Pocket, all of which are priced as follows:
- From €1,099 for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4.
- Motorola Razr 2022: Starting at €1,199
- Huawei P50 Pocket: Starting with €1,299
What are the specifications and design of the Find N2 Flip?
Oppo may not have disclosed anything official regarding the Find N2 Flip, but we believe we know what to expect thanks to leaks.
To begin, the likely design has been shown in what appears to be an official Oppo render published on Twitter by leaker Abhishek Yadav, including the apparent confirmation of the Find N2 Flip name:
We can see a design that resembles Samsung’s Z Flip 4, but with a couple of large cutouts for the camera and a larger cover screen, flipped on its side in portrait position.
If you’re unconvinced, the image corresponds precisely with a claimed test film showing a first sample of the phone. In this scenario, the phone is only seen briefly and inside a heavy-duty protective cover that hides much of the design, but the two huge lenses and vertical screen are clearly seen when the phone is closed.
Here’s what we know about the design, but what about the specifications? The chipset is speculated to be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, rather than the more powerful 8 Gen 2 recently unveiled.
Digital Chat Station, a normally dependable leaker, has published some additional detailed specifications. To begin with, it claims that the phone would have two OLED screens: an internal 6.8-inch with a resolution of 25201080 pixels and an exterior 3.26-inch. This latest specification is intriguing because it is larger than the outside screens on existing folding phones, implying a screen that will cover one side of the phone when closed.
It also predicts a 4300 mAh battery, which is larger than we’ve seen in prior foldable with this design factor.
Finally, the camera specifications appear. There will reportedly be a 32 MP selfie camera with a Sony IMX709 sensor, a 50 MP primary camera with a Sony IMX766 sensor, and an 8 MP ultra-wide angle camera with a Sony IMX355 sensor.
Samsung is now the king of foldable phones, with the Galaxy Z Flip 4 being one of our favorites of any kind, not just foldable. So the Oppo Find N2 Flip (if it’s named that at all) will have a lot of work to do if it wants to take the top spot. We hope to hear from you soon.
